Democrats give up on millionaire tax

I think this goes to show the difference between the average Dem politician and the average GOP politician. The latter is much more principled (even when it’s on the wrong side of the law). Democrats are (for what it’s worth) pragmatic. This is why Democrats often lose elections.

Reid really can’t be bothered to schedule a vote on Obama’s jobs plan right now

Apparently Reid has bigger issues to deal with, like China currency manipulation (note: honestly, what measures could we do to stop it? Especially without European support?) As of right now Obama’s jobs bill is deadpooled.

It looks like Bob Casey is having serious doubts about whether Obama can pass his jobs bill without Congress choking on it. Not sure if most of the bill can pass (as anything raising the deficit will receive blow back by the public). Either way, losing Casey early on is going to slow the momentum of this bill (which Obama desperately needs in order to have a slight chance of being re-elected). Hat tip: Hot Air.

MoveOn.org upset with Obama

I’ve been heating similar complaints on Google+ from my progressive friends. Obama has pretty much given up on everything from EPA standards to extending the Bush tax cuts to even allowing the Canadian pipeline to be built through the US.

All these moves are not surprising when you understand that Obama is a pragmatic progressive (as opposed to a principled one) which means he will do whatever it takes to win the next election, even if it means sacrificing liberal ideals.
